Why We Meet

Singing Together

We’re thinking about the times when we meet – on Sunday mornings and in Core Groups. ¬†Why do we do it, how should we approach these times and what should our expectation be?

Today we were thinking about singing together.

We looked at Psalm 149.

Some things consider:

  • Dave said he thought music and singing were hardwired into creation. Do you think this is true? What role has music and singing played in your life?
    • What’s your favourite song? Why?
    • Dave said singing is emotional and interlectual – how do you think you most connect with songs? The way it makes you feel or the ideas in the lyrics?
  • How do you feel about our time of singing on Sunday mornings?
    • How do you feel about our singing being an act of worship? What makes this easy? What makes it a challenge?
  • What church songs do you especially like? What about them, musically or lyrically, makes them special?
    • Are there any songs you struggle with? Why?
  • What can you do to be more intentional in our times of singing? What steps can you take to actively engage, rather than spectate?
