Pillars of the Faith: Esther 7

This week we start the second half of the book of Esther, as events start to improve for Esther, Mordecai and the Jews. The book of Esther is a “chiastic” structure – one where events after the climax mirror those before. In today’s passage we hit that climax and see the first symmetry – consider how Haman’s lament is an ironic reflection of his boasts in 5:9-14.

Take a moment to stop and reflect on the past couple of days. Are there things you need to thank God for? Are there troubles you need to give to him?

Read Esther 6

Use the following prayer as a reflection on this passage:
Father, we thank you for the stories of lives spent being faithful to You. Help us to learn from them and be encouraged, that through all circumstances you can turn things for good.
